Military Veterans' Health and Wellbeing

This course Focuses on the transition from military to civilian life and the challenges this poses for veterans' health, housing, employment, education and welfare, this course will teach you to analyse veterans' health and social-care needs, understand the challenges they face and develop problem-solving skills.

Entry requirements

A degree, grade 2.2 or above; an equivalent academic or professional qualification from the UK or elsewhere incorporating study at least comparable to 120 credits at level 6; or a graduate diploma or certificate from a UK university. You must also have relevant experience in health or social care, charitable organisations that provide a service for veterans and their families, or the armed forces. Students whose 1st language is not English will need to provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.

Course modules

Modules include: Health and wellbeing issues facing the veteran and their family; challenges in transition to civilian life; psychological, social and health intervention for the veteran and their family; research methods; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes: seminar presentation; written assignments; reflective pieces; assessed group activities; research proposal; negotiated assessment.
