This course equips students to meet the challenges of the modern structural engineering industry. It is also accredited by the Institution of Structural Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers and Institution of Highways & Transportation as satisfying the requirements for further learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
A minimum 2.2 degree or equivalent in a subject such as civil engineering or structural engineering. Applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully are welcomed.
Modules include: Introduction to design with computer applications; seismic engineering and practical applications of finite element analysis; further design with applications to building structures; bridge engineering; dissertation.
Assessment is through coursework 42 per cent, examination 47 per cent and dissertation 11 per cent.
