Advanced Control Systems

This course allows graduates to develop a focused, integrated and critically-aware understanding of the underlying theory, current policy and practice in the field of control systems engineering. You will study a range of control applications including industrial control, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), intelligent control, flight control and robotic control.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a 2.2 degree with significant numerate content comparable to 1st degrees in engineering. We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully. Students whose 1st language is not English may need to provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.

Course modules

Modules include: Automation and robotics; instrumentation and control; artificial intelligence; flight dynamics and control; operations techniques and management; MSc project and dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on 35 percent examinations; 65 per cent coursework (labs, reports, dissertation).
