This course provides strong training in many issues at the forefront of biotechnology. It integrates bioscience, biochemistry and biomedical science. As biotechnology is a priority growth area in the UK (particularly in the north west of England), graduates of this multidisciplinary course tend to find work easily and have excellent career prospects.

Entry requirements

A degree, grade 2.2 or above, in bioscience, biochemistry, pharmacy medicine or related subject. Appropriately experienced applicants will be considered in line with the university�s accreditation of prior learning procedure. Students whose 1st language is not English will require evidence of proficiency in the English language.

Course modules

Modules inclue: Research and analytical methods; molecular biology and proteomics; medical biotechnology; plant biotechnology; research project.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a combination of written examinations, oral presentations, coursework, laboratory reports and submission of the dissertation.
