Real Estate and Property Management
This course equips students with a working knowledge of the commercial property market, including its relevance to national and international financial and investment markets. Students also become professionally competent in applying current investment and appraisal techniques and learn how to make sound decisions that take into account legal, economic, facilities management and planning variables.
A degree, grade 2.2 or above, or a recognised appropriate professional qualification such as MRICS, MRTPI or MCIOB. Although students do not need prior knowledge of the subject area it is important that they are prepared for the range of material covered by the course. Some applicants will not meet the academic requirements but will have professional experience and may therefore still be suitable.
Modules include: Valuation and investment appraisal; property law and practice; buildings in use; planning and development; dissertation.
Assessment is through written coursework (100 per cent) and continuous informal assessment by tutors.
