Construction Law and Practice

This programme will equip students to operate effectively in all areas of construction practice that involve construction law. What you learn will equip you to conduct legal analysis into mainstream construction practice and communicate your findings to your colleagues and clients.

Entry requirements

A degree, grade 2.2 or above, or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or in an unrelated discipline with relevant work experience, or a recognised appropriate professional qualification such as Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Applicants to the LLM must have a minimum 2.2 undergraduate Honours qualifying law degree or a recognised appropriate professional legal qualification. We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but have relevant experience. Students whose 1st language is not English will require evidence of proficiency in the English language.

Course modules

Modules include: Fundamentals of construction law; construction contracts (operation and administration); liability and complexity in construction law; dispute resolution (law and practice); dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through written coursework (100 per cent); continuous informal assessment by tutors.
