Intercultural Communication

We�ll cover the main theories of intercultural communication, including best practice for effective communication at work. This will enable you to connect theory with real-life situations. If you want to work in an international, multicultural environment, and develop advanced intercultural competence and communication skills in more than one language, this course is for you.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 degree in arts or social sciences, an advanced working knowledge of 2 languages (CEFR B1/B2). English language requirements: overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: concepts and approaches in intercultural communication; intercultural communication in practice; ethnography; dissertation. Optional modules: a range including: languages for intercultural communication; tandem learning for intercultural communication; international management; international project management; critical reading and writing at ma level; language in context; localisation for linguists; approaches to translation genres; enhanced languages/translation modules: professional problem-based learning; subtitling project.

Assessment methods

You�ll be assessed by essays, presentations and a dissertation.
