Research interests of academic clinical psychiatry include structural and functional neuroimaging of psychotic conditions; their psychopathology and precursors and response to new treatments; opportunities exist for those interested in pursuing a supervised research project leading to an MPhil or PhD in biological psychiatry, neuroscience and neuroimaging.
Research areas include: cognitive neuroscience of auditory processing and auditory hallucinations in health and schizophrenia; the neuroscience of social cognition and communication; cognitive neurobiology of executive functioning; deception; time perception: brain mechanisms in health and schizophrenia; neuropyschological and neuropsychiatric problems in the homeless with neuropsychiatric disorder; studies of anhedonia in schizophrenia; assessing the modulation of neural function by pharmacological, psychological and physical treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders such as transcranial magnetic stimulation.
