Practical Entomology

Entomology is increasingly at the forefront of addressing global challenges such as food security and disease transmission. Through training, led by our world-leading research entomologists, you'll develop the practical skills needed to be an effective scientist working with insects. The course focuses on equipping you with in-depth and hands-on experience of the specialist entomological techniques and practices that underpin the study of insects. These include collection, preservation, setting, archiving, monitoring, imaging and dissecting. Please see our University website for the most up-to-date course information.

Entry requirements

MSc: At least a 2:2 honours degree, or equivalent, in biological sciences or another relevant science subject. Applicants with professional experience may also be considered following interview. English language requirements: Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: essays, portfolio work, practical work, a research project, and a presentation.
