Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine

This course introduces you to the field of biomaterials, and important factors in the selection, design and development of biomaterials and dental material for clinical applications. You�ll develop an understanding of biomaterials science, engineering, regenerative medicine and associated specialisms.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree in materials, metallurgy, chemistry or a related engineering subject from an approved institution. For MSc Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine, a good honours degree in dentistry or medicine is also acceptable. English language requirements- Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: materials for biological applications; scientific writing and health informatics; polymers materials chemistry; bio-imaging and bio-spectroscopy; tissue engineering and regenerative medicine; structural and physical properties of dental and biomaterials; research project. Optional modules: group projects and developing research; dental materials science; tissue structure and function; design of medical devices and implants.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by formal examinations, coursework assignments and a dissertation.
