Advanced Metals Manufacturing

Our brand new course aims to equip students with a skill set equivalent to that of a MEng graduate in Metals Manufacturing, providing you with a thorough understanding of metallic materials science and engineering to progress rapidly to a position of responsibility and leadership in the advanced metals manufacturing industry. Through innovative context-driven teaching, our world-leading staff will train you in quality control, including the use of standards and specifications, show you how to identify manufacturing defects and maintain product integrity, and how to use modelling to fast track the development and optimisation of new or existing process routes.

Entry requirements

A good honours degree in materials, metallurgy, chemistry or a related engineering subject from an approved institution. For MSc Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine, a good honours degree in dentistry or medicine is also acceptable. English language requirements- Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules: metals; metallurgical processing; industrial training programme; introduction to finite element modelling; advanced materials manufacturing: parts 1 and two; technical skills development; science of materials; heat and materials with application; research project of your choice.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by formal examinations, coursework assignments and a dissertation.
