Mechanical Engineering

Much of the research undertaken is carried out by our postgraduate students as part of their PhD programmes; postgraduate research students working on a wide range of projects; students come from both the UK and overseas, with most of them having a 1st degree in engineering, physics or mathematics.

Entry requirements

1st Class or 2.1 Honours degree from an approved institution in an appropriate engineering or science subject, applicants with other qualification will also be considered; English requirements for overseas applicants are: TOEFL score of 575 with 4.5 in test of written English (TWE); IELTS score of 6.5 with 5 or higher in each component.

Course modules

Research areas: 4 main research clusters, these are: energy and flow; manufacturing enterprise and design group; motion and control; integrity of materials and structures.
