Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (with the AMRC)
You will be taught by some of the world�s leading academics. Your research project will be set and supervised by one of the AMRC�s industrial sponsors. The list features Boeing, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems. Previous challenges include three-dimensional tool wear assessment, productionisation of a novel pneumatic engine casing fixture and machine performance enhancement through passive damping of structural vibration. We also teach techniques and transferable skills you will need for a career in industry, including technology strategy and innovation management. All our courses are designed to meet the needs of industry. Recent graduates have gone on to work for Arup, Rolls-Royce and Network Rail.
A 2.1 in mechanical engineering or a related subject. If you have qualifications in other science/engineering subjects such as mathematics or physics, or you have relevant professional experience, we will consider your application. English language requirements: overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.
Optional modules: a range including: signal processing and instrumentation; computer modelling and validation; engineering composite materials; advanced materials and manufacturing; advanced finite element modelling; experimental stress analysis; robotics; tribology of machine elements; control of structural vibrations; condition monitoring; advanced composite structures; high temperature materials for aerospace; advanced solid mechanics; finite element analysis with Ansys; innovation management; technology strategy and business planning.
