Dental Implantology

Enhance your critical thinking and build on your existing clinical skills. This advanced course will give you a theoretical scientific basis for oral implantology. The course is only run on a part-time basis.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a primary dental degree and demonstrable skills in oral surgery and restorative dentistry; must have at least two years� experience in a hospital or general dental practice. English language requirements: overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Year 1: core modules: biology and biomaterials for oral surgery; surgical techniques in dental implantology; strategies for treating tooth loss; clinical practice in implant dentistry (year 1 and 2); research project.

Assessment methods

Continuous assessment, written assignments, presentations, case logbooks, dissertation based on a research project (MMedSci only).
