Virology and Medical Microbiology
Major research areas include: immunology: adjuvants; cytokines; macrophage activation; medical microbiology; bacterial pathogenicity mechanisms; diagnosis of bacterial disease using PCR and DNA hybridisation; bacteriology of genito-urinary infections, antibiotic resistance and plasmids; virology: antiviral agents, chlamydiae, herpes viruses, development of improved viral vaccines including HIB.
Minimum upper 2nd Class Honours degree in appropriate subject.
