Vision and Strabismus

This is a part-time distance learning course for practising Orthoptists and other eye care professionals. It's taught online so you can study for a higher degree without having to leave your current post.

Entry requirements

Diploma

A Diploma of British Orthoptics or a degree in orthoptics, or an equivalent overseas qualification in orthoptics. At least 1 year's clinical experience following the 1st degree. Other appropriate 1st degrees, such as optometry, are welcome. Students whose 1st language is not English require an overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 7.0 in each component, or equivalent.

MMedSci

A Diploma of British Orthoptics or a degree in orthoptics, or an equivalent overseas qualification in orthoptics. At least 1 year's clinical experience following the 1st degree. Other appropriate 1st degrees, such as optometry, are welcome. Students whose 1st language is not English require an overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: concomitance and incomitance in depth; insight into disease or low vision; eye to vision; research methods (option for Postgraduate Diploma); dissertation (Postgraduate Diploma only); research project (MMedSci only).
