Statistics with Medical Applications
This new course is run in conjunction with the Medical Statistics Group in the University�s School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR). Accredited by the Royal Statistical Society, it provides professional training for a career in the medical, pharmaceutical and health services industries. The course is based on the MSc Statistics with additional training in specialist areas of medical applications. Our graduates work in finance, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and research. Employers include First Direct, GlaxoSmithKline, Marks and Spencer, the Government Statistical Service and medical council research units.
Minimum 2.1 Honours degree with substantial mathematical and statistical components or a pass at an equivalent level in the Graduate Certificate. English language requirements: overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.
Core modules: data analysis; statistical laboratory; linear models; epidemiological methods and time series; Bayesian inference and further clinical trials; sampling, design and medical statistics.
Assessment is by formal examinations, project work and a dissertation.
You may be able to get University and external company funding depending on your qualifications. We need to receive all funding applications by the first week in March.
