Applied Professional Studies in Education

This is a distance learning course for qualified teachers, heads of department and managers. It builds on your PGCE or PGDE so you can progress in your career. Through structured reflection on your work, you�ll become an even more effective teacher of your specialist subject.

Entry requirements

You�ll need an honours degree and Qualified Teacher Status. We consider all applications on the basis of relevant qualifications and experience. English language requirements- Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: critical reflection on professional development, part 1; classroom-based inquiry; critical reflection on professional development, part 2; research methods in education; dissertation (educational studies).

Assessment methods

Each module will require the completion of a 6,000-word assignment. The dissertation module requires the submission of a 15,000�20,000-word dissertation.
