Main research areas include: contemporary economic geographies: multinational firms; regional economic development and policy, especially in European Union; local economic development and policy; evaluation of regional and urban policy; politics of urban and regional change; environmental politics; electoral systems and politics of devolution; spatial data analysis methods in human geography; cultural and social geographies: contemporary consumption spaces and commodity cultures; race, ethnicity and identity; gender and sexuality; youth and parenting; food, place and identity; population migration; fertility and reproductive politics; urban geography of Europe; social and environmental change in sub-Saharan Africa; development of geographical information systems for analysis of crime and health patterns.

Entry requirements

Good Honours degree in geography or related subject; candidates holding recognised qualification in research methods may be permitted to omit training element of PhD programme.
