Information Management (Professional Enhancement Programme)

This CILIP-accredited course produces the kind of graduates employers are looking for: information-literate with the technical know-how to design and manage information services. We teach best practice in information capture, storage, retrieval and analysis. You will also develop valuable transferable skills such as project management and effective, ethical research. Guest lecturers come from What Analytics, HSBC, Folksy, Premex, Intranet Focus and other companies.Graduates work in the public and private sectors. Some of them are independent consultants.

Entry requirements

An undergraduate degree in librarianship/information studies/information systems and at least 2 years' relevant work experience. We will also accept an undergraduate degree in any subject area if you have a relevant professional qualification. If your undergraduate degree is in another subject area, you will also need to have at least 5 years' relevant work experience. If you do not have an undergraduate degree but you have other qualifications and substantial relevant work experience, you may be eligible for entry on to the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma programmes. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: information and knowledge management; research methods and dissertation preparation; dissertation. Optional modules: choose from a wide range, including: e-business and e-commerce; content management systems; digital multimedia libraries; information systems change management; researching social media; business intelligence.

Assessment methods

You will be assessed on essays, reports, small projects, presentations, posters, group work and a research-based dissertation.
