Information Management (professional enhancement programme)

This course aims to produce graduates who are information-literate with the technical know-how to design and manage information services. Students will also develop valuable transferable skills such as project management and effective, ethical research. Guest lecturers come from What Analytics, HSBC, Folksy, Premex, Intranet Focus and other companies.

Entry requirements

An undergraduate degree in: librarianship, information studies, information systems and at least 2 years' relevant work experience; or an undergraduate degree in any subject area with a relevant professional qualification. 5 years' relevant work experience for applicants with degrees in other areas; or other qualifications and substantial relevant work experience. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: information and knowledge management; research methods and dissertation preparation; dissertation. Optional modules include: e-business and e-commerce; content management systems; digital multimedia libraries; information systems change management; researching social media; business intelligence.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by essays, reports, small projects, presentations, posters, group work and a research-based dissertation.
