Landscape Management

This course is ideal if you work in the private sector, a local authority or a community organisation. It�s about the long-term care and development of landscapes, and planning for the future. We�ll teach you how to manage and maintain landscape materials, both hard and soft, based on established principles of construction, horticulture and ecology. Financial matters, management skills and contract administration are also covered.

Entry requirements

A degree in a relevant subject such as agriculture, botany, environmental science, forestry, landscape, ecology or countryside management. If you don't have a degree, you'll need an alternative academic qualification and relevant work experience. This will be subject to approval at faculty level. Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: appreciation of landscape; greenspace maintenance; greenspace management; professional practice, law and contracts; habitat management; research methods; special project; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by coursework assignments, dissertation, oral presentation and examination.
