Work Psychology

This course can involve a research project in a real-world organisation, which will demand effective communication, negotiation and project management skills. Recent research projects include a performance management project for a large organisation, working with a company in the insurance sector on change management, and a review of a law firm's reward system. If you're not eligible for BPS membership, you can take the MSc Work Psychology. This degree is not recognised by the BPS but it will help you develop the skills you need for research and practice as an occupational psychologist.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree with a significant coverage of psychology; research methods and statistics topics. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6 in all components

Course modules

Modules include: work design, organisational change and development; applying psychology to work and organisations; leadership, engagement and motivation; learning, training and development; research methods for occupational psychologists; selection and psychological testing in organisations; statistical methods for occupational psychologists; well-being and work; project workshops/dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on written work, examinations and research dissertation.
