International Political Economy
Globalisation is a major issue in international politics. You�ll examine the nature and direction of global change. Your studies will focus on political and economic aspects, including thematic issues around hegemony, development, governance and cooperation. Graduates work in government, NGOs, the private sector, consultancies and think tanks. They are directors, private secretaries, managers, political advisers, barristers, parliamentary clerks, senior civil servants and administrators.
A 2.1 Honours degree, plus supportive references from previous tutors.Candidates without a degree or equivalent but with suitable work experience may also be considered. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in reading, 6.5 in writing, 5.5 in listening and 5.5 in speaking, or equivalent.
Core modules: theories and issues in international political economy; dissertation in international political economy. Plus one of the following modules: the political economy of globalisation; united states hegemony; global governance; the politics of international law; the governance and politics of the European union; research methods in politics; philosophy and methodology of political research. Optional modules: Choose two modules from a range including: The Political Economy of Globalisation; The Politics of international law; contemporary ethnic conflict; Europeanisation; the politics of global migration; contemporary global security.
