Sociological Studies

The interdisciplinary course brings together sociologists, social policy analysts, social workers and social anthropologists; a central thread of sociological theory and research methods runs through everything that is done.

Entry requirements

Good Honours degree in social sciences.

Research topics: ageing; health and well-being; culture, identity and policy; international social policy; child welfare and child protection; citizenship; criminology and the sociology of crime and social control; comparative global and European social policy; quality of life; the sociology of science and technology; the sociology of ageing, death and dying; the sociology of childhood and youth studies; the sociology of gender and sexuality; the sociology of health, illness and disability; the sociology of identity; the sociology of mega-events; the sociology of museums and the heritage industry; the sociology of nationalism and national identity; the sociology of race and ethnicity; the sociology of surveillance.
