This degree makes you eligible to apply for HCPC registration as a qualified social worker in the UK. The academic side of the course is rigorous and challenging. You�ll develop a clear understanding of the theory. Through work placements, you�ll become a confident, skilled practitioner.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree. Requirements for overseas students, overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component, or equivalent; we can only accept you onto this course if you have lived in the UK for the last 5 years, or have completed a CRB check considered equivalent to the UK's in the country where you have been living.

Course modules

Modules include: social work practice (contexts; values and skills); human growth and development through the life course for social workers; law and social policy for social work; skills for social work practice; social work professional development; safeguarding in social work practice; dissertation; you will go on 2 placements with local agencies (local authority, private, voluntary or independent sector service providers); 1 placement is for 70 days, the other for 100 days.

Assessment methods

Assessed essays; group project work; peer assessment; group and individual presentations; examination; dissertation.
