Psychology and Education

We are developing our one-year, full-time MSc in Psychology and Education course at the University of Sheffield for a September 2018 start. Entry requirements

A good Honours degree or equivalent. You will also need to: Demonstrate evidence of an interest in and a commitment to psychology and education; have the potential to successfully complete the MSc and to apply for the British Psychological Society's Graduate Basis for Chartered membership (GBC). All applicants must include a personal statement. International applicants will need to meet the British Psychological Society's requirements specified in the Standards for the Accreditation of undergraduate, conversion and integrated Master's programmes in psychology, October 2014, p 34. English language requirements: Overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: Difference, disability and diversity in psychology and education; constructing mind, brain and society; global mental health and development; research methods in psychology and education.

Assessment methods

Essays; individual presentations; 15-20,000-word dissertation. For the dissertation study, you will be supported by an experienced research tutor who has expertise in the appropriate field. Throughout the course, you will keep a reflective learning log. This is not assessed formally as a written piece of work, but is an essential component for any potential practitioner wishing to use psychologically-informed concepts following a period of study at Master's level.
