Quantum Photonics and Nanomaterials

This one-year research degree is a chance for you to develop your skills in one of the most exciting areas of modern science. It's a unique opportunity to gain hi-tech skills that are central to the latest advances in electronics, IT and computing. This course brings together our expertise in quantum photonics and nanomaterials. There is a particular focus on the study of novel fundamental phenomena in condensed matter systems as well as applications in quantum information processing, photovoltaics and optoelectronics. Our staff are at the forefront of technological advances. We work with support from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, European Research Council and the Horizon 2020 programme, the Royal Society, the Leverhulme Trust and the British Council as well as CONACyT, the National Council of Science and Technology in Mexico. Our department attracts postgraduate students from around the world.

Entry requirements

You'll need a first class honours degree, or equivalent, in physics.

Assessment methods
