International Policing

The course enhances understanding and practical application of modern policing models and partnership working; students study modern management, leadership styles and practices, the policing of security sectors and consensus-driven policing; to gain an extra perspective.

Entry requirements

Usually via an undergraduate Honours degree in an appropriate area, or through evidence by portfolio of professional competence; applicants may also be subject to an interview.

Course modules

Modules include: Operational planning and investigation; strategic management and leadership in the police; international comparisons in policing or security sector reform; problem-orientated partnerships; community safety; researching contemporary issues; neighbourhood analysis and performance; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment are work-based, including essays and reflections on discussion groups.
