This programme aims to develop legal skills within a structure that allows students to shape their degree towards those areas in which their interests match our particular expertise, while maintaining an overall coherence in relation to your individual choice of modules. Students may register for an LLM (General) or a named LLM; they can select 4 subjects from the relevant option lists and submit a supervised dissertation on a subject of their choice; the available streams are: LLM (General); commercial and corporate law; European and comparative property law; European law; international business law; international law; information technology and commerce; and maritime law.
An Upper 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in law from an approved university (accont may also be taken of practical experience within the relevant field of study). IELTS 7.0 with 6.0 in all components or internet-based TOEFL 100 with at least 21 in Listening, 22 in Reading and 23 in Speaking for international students.
Core modules:Dissertation - LLM. Option modules: international law of the sea; international trade law; marine insurance; world trade organisation and regional economic integration; internet law; international protection of human rights; admiralty law; carriage of goods by sea; commercial conflict of laws and international litigation; international commercial arbitration; carriage by air; insurance law; law of the marine environment; principles of secured transactions; advanced secured transactions; corporate governance of boards; fundamentals of public international law; dispute settlement in international law; corporate governance (shareholders� rights and responsibilities); intellectual property law and theory.
Assessment methods include dissertation, examination and assessed essays.
