This programme covers traditional and contemporary approaches to software development, from formal methods to object-oriented programming. You will study with experts in subjects such as computer vision; critical systems; cryptography; distributed computing systems; e-business; intelligent agents; and multimedia.

Entry requirements

MSc: A UK bachelor's degree with upper second-class honours or higher. (See website for specific details and international equivalent qualifications.) English language: band 2c, IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.

Course modules

Compulsory modules include: Automated Code Generation; Software Modelling Tools and Techniques for Critical Systems; Software Project Management and Development; MSc Research Project and Dissertation; Project Preparation. Optional modules include: Advanced Topics in Human-Systems Interaction; Cryptography; Designing Usable and Accessible Technologies; E-Business Strategy; Intelligent Agents; Machine Learning Technologies; Mobile Applications Development; Network and Web-Based Security; Open Data Innovation; Web Development.

Assessment methods

Coursework, examinations, written project (design, development or research) and dissertation.
