This ESRC recognised research training programme will provide you with rigorous knowledge and understanding of the concepts, tools and methods of modern economics and their application to the analysis of economic problems. We will give you the training necessary for a career as an economist in the public or private sector or to undertake independent research.

Entry requirements

MSc: First- or upper second-class degree or an equivalent standard in other qualifications approved by the University in economics, finance or  a related subject

Course modules

"Semester One: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Quantitative Methods. Preliminary Mathematics and Statistics, Quantitative Methods Semester Two Dissertation, Labour Economics, Industrial Economics, Finance, International Trade, Panel Data and Microeconometrics, Time Series Econometrics, Financial Derivatives.

Assessment methods

Some modules are assessed exams, coursework, projects, or essays. Exams are held at the end of each semester.
