Whether your aim is to progress within a law firm specialising in commercial and corporate work or join the legal team of a global corporation, this LLM degree will provide essential in-depth knowledge to help you succeed. Its flexible structure will enable you to design a programme that suits your individual needs by choosing from a wide range of optional modules. These draw on the world-leading expertise of our academics in areas such as corporate governance, secured transactions, conflict of laws, international business law and maritime law. The options also include modules on ship finance, insurance and ship sale and purchase that are not widely available elsewhere. In addition, our extensive links with law firms will enhance your learning and help you to build professional networks. .

Entry requirements

Course modules

Optional modules include: 30 credits: Commercial Conflicts of Laws and International Litigation; Comparative Competition Law; Corporate Governance: Regulating Boards of Directors; International Commercial Arbitration 15 credits: Corporate Governance of Boards; Corporate Governance - Shareholders' Rights; Commercial Secured Financing; Advanced Secured Transactions

Assessment methods

Assessment will vary depending on modules selected, but will include exams and coursework as well as your dissertation. Students are required to complete a total of 180 credits across their modules (credits are based on Credit Accumulation Transfer Scheme - CATS). The core LLM dissertation is awarded 60 credits, and students are free to choose remaining modules that total 120 credits.
