Micro and Nanotechnology

This one-year Micro and Nanotechnology programme has a focus on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and nanoelectronics. The programme also addresses microfluidic technology, enabling miniaturised biodevices for point-of-care diagnostic applications, and covers the fundamentals of photonic circuits and devices.

Entry requirements

MSc: Upper second-class honours degree or higher (or equivalent) in a related discipline, such as mathematics, physics, engineering or computer science.

Compulsory: MSc Project; Microfabrication; Microsensor Technologies; Bio/Micro/Nano Systems; Project Preparation. Optional: Green Electronics; Microfluidics and Lab-on-a-Chip; Nanoelectronic Device; Advanced Memory and Storage; Bionanotechnology; Nanofabrication and Microscopy; Quantum Devices and Technology; Medical Electrical and Electronic Technologies; Photonic Materials; An Introduction to Silicon Photonics.

Assessment methods

Written examinations and coursework and individual project assessed by dissertation.
