Advanced Clinical Practice (Advanced Nurse Practitioner)

This programme is designed around the needs of experienced nurse, midwife or allied healthcare practitioners looking to further develop practice and/or prepare for clinical practice roles at a senior level. It will enable you to strengthen your existing knowledge, skills and competencies while also preparing you for roles that require greater autonomy, responsibility and more complex clinical decision-making.

Entry requirements

MSc: Lower second-class degree or an equivalent standard in other qualifications approved by the University; registration with a professional body; at least two years relevant post-registration clinical experience.

Course modules

Core: Decision Making for Advanced Clinical Practice, Research Methods for Evidence Based Practice, Transition to Advanced Practice (Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Neonatal Practitioner Pathways), Dissertation Required: Advanced Neonatal Studies Assessment and Examination of the New-born, Pharmacology and Applied Clinical Science for Prescribing and Advanced Medicines Management

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include essays, case studies, examinations, objective structured clinical examination, practice based assessment, a clinical portfolio and the dissertation.
