This course introduces students to the diversity of social archaeology, and provides them with experiences in reading complex data-specific and theoretical texts; graduates from this course are in a position to gain employment in archaeology, heritage and related industries, or to conduct research in archaeology or a cognate discipline.
1st or upper 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in archaeology, anthropology, or related subject.English Language requirements: IELTS 6.5, or equivalent in other approved English language test.
Semester 1 Compulsory: Social archaeology; optional: technology and social life; Latin language (accelerated course): stage 1 and 2. Semester 2 Compulsory: Dissertation; intellectual methodologies. Optional: ceramics and lithics in context; representations and consumption of the past; archaeology of the senses; Latin language (accelerated course): stage 1 and 2; students may also take an individually negotiated topic in either semester 1 or 2.
