Software Engineering

This programme covers traditional and contemporary approaches to software development, from formal methods to object-oriented programming. Students study with experts in subjects such as computer vision; critical systems; cryptography; distributed computing systems; e-business; intelligent agents; model checking and multimedia.

Entry requirements

Upper 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (e.g. computer science, software engineering). Where English is not the native language//language of instruction: IELTS: 6.5 (6 in each competency); internet-based TOEFL: 92 (21 in each competency).

Course modules

Semester 1: software modelling tools and techniques; software project management and development; web architecture; web development; intelligent agents; designing usable and accessible technologies; machine learning; implementing cyber security. Semester 2: automated code generation; automated software verification; semantic web technologies; e-business strategy; science of online social networks; cryptography; advanced intelligent agents; advanced machine learning.
