This course integrates a substantial taught element, incorporating research skills, subject-specific knowledge and interdisciplinary topics with a wide range of professional, transferable skills and a research project leading to a PhD thesis.

Entry requirements

Good Honours degree in a relevant subject; other interests or achievements may be considered.

Course modules

Communicating and disseminating to different audiences; data analysis; data collection; philosophical issues in educational research; quantitative methods and statistical processes; research skills and processes; plus optional modules including: action research; case study research; ethnographic research; policy and programme evaluation; qualitative analysis; small group/classroom interaction analysis.
