International Political Theory

The programme introduces students to the dynamic and exciting field of international political theory (IPT). Located at the intersection of political theory and international relations, this programme will provide students with new conceptual tools for understanding the international system, and students of philosophy and political theory the ability to situate political thought beyond the boundaries of the sovereign state.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2.1 Honours degree, or equivalent, GPA of 3.6 or better on a 4 point scale. All applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0, or a TOEFL 600 or better.

Course modules

Core modules: Texts in international political theory; rethinking human rights. Optional modules include: Global constitutionalism; political philosophy and world order.

Assessment methods

MLitt: 9 months of ongoing coursework and a supervised dissertation of 15,000 words. MPhil: 9 months of ongoing coursework and a supervised research thesis of 40,000 words.
