Scripture and Theology

This course will help students orientate themselves to recent research and the history of biblical interpretation, obtain necessary skills in methods and relevant research languages and begin to do their own research through a short dissertation. It will offer a preparation for a doctoral dissertation in any 1 of the sub-disciplines, or in something that aims to combine at least 2 of these.

Entry requirements

A good UK Honours degree in theology or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: Origins of Christian theology; themes from biblical texts; dissertation. Optional language modules: Hebrew; Aramaic; Greek; Latin; French; German.

Assessment methods

MLitt: 9 months of coursework and a supervised dissertation of 15,000 words.
