Sustainable Energy (Double Masters)

The course takes place in both St Andrews and Moscow. The 1st year involves taking similar modules in the 1-year programme at St Andrews with a more specific focus on energy issues. The second year challenges students to complete study abroad on a wide range of energy modules.

Entry requirements

A UK 2.1 or equivalent in your 1st degree. English language competency of IELTS score 7 or better and 6.5 minimum in each category, or equivalent, if your 1st language is not English.

Course modules

Year 1: (University of St Andrews) Semester 1: Introduction to sustainable development issues; quantitative research methods in social sciences; Russian language 1; option module. Semester 2: Master class in sustainable development; qualitative research methods in social sciences; Russian language 2; option module. Summer: Research project (dissertation on energy). Year 2: (MGIMO, Moscow) Semester 1: Management and marketing; strategic management; oil and gas business. Semester 2: Energy economics; legal regulation of energy; financial management of energy. Summer: Reflective review essay.

Assessment methods

MSc: Ongoing coursework and the completion of both the dissertation and reflective review essay.
