Sustainable Development

The course allows students to understand and embrace sustainability from multiple perspectives and take a holistic approach, develop their ability to understand the complex nature of these problems and how to create strategies that will allow them to overcome them, both now and in the future. You will learn about the underlying issues that have created today's global challenges and the possible journeys to a more sustainable society, whilst also taking advantage of options from a variety of other disciplines to follow your own personal pathway.

Entry requirements

PgDip

A good Honours degree, normally a UK 2.1 or equivalent (GPA 3.6 or better). English language competency of IELTS score 7,or equivalent if applicant's 1st language is not English.

MSc

A good Honours degree, normally a UK 2.1 or equivalent (GPA 3.6 or better). English language competency of IELTS score 7, or equivalent if applicant's 1st language is not English.

Course modules

Core modules: Introduction to sustainable development issues or sustainable development issues; knowledge, and sustainable development; master classes in sustainable development. Optional modules: Environmental management, and policy; environmental risk; markets, society, and environment; wildlife population assessment; research methodology; management as if the earth mattered; corporate governance, and ethics; anthropology, indigenous peoples, and resource management; disease, and the environment.

Assessment methods

All students complete ongoing coursework and a 15,000-word dissertation or project as part of this course.
