Youth and Community Work
This programme provides an opportunity for students to gain both a degree at Master's level and a professional qualification in youth and community work; the programme combines practical fieldwork experience with academic study; the programme offers a stimulating and challenging series of taught modules relevant to current professional practice in youth and community work; integral to the programme is the development of professional practice; there are 2 fieldwork placements that are undertaken alongside the taught element of the programme.
1 year�s experience (paid, voluntary, full-time or part-time) of youth and community work; a relevant 1st degree; an understanding of youth and community work and a commitment to the value base of the course; applicants are interviewed.
Modules include: Principles and practice of youth and community work; anti oppressive practice (ethics, values and professional identity); developing interpersonal communication; concurrent placement (148 hours of work based learning); leadership and management in youth and community work; critical reflective practice; block placement (444 hours).
