Investment and Finance
This programme provides a thorough grounding in the theory and analytical techniques required by finance professionals. It offers you a global perspective on the process of financial decision-making and practical knowledge of the workings of financial markets and the price-setting process. You will also learn to critically evaluate research.
Academic requirements: A minimum of a second-class Honours degree (2.1 preferred) or equivalent. Applicants without these formal qualifications but with significant appropriate/relevant work/life experience are encouraged to apply. English requirements: IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all subskills) or equivalent. If you do not meet the minimum academic English language requirements you can apply for one of our English language courses.
Semester 1: financial reporting; corporate finance; economics for business and management; quantitative methods in finance. Semester 2: investment and portfolio management; derivatives; international corporate finance; financial statement analysis.
Over the summer period (term 3) you are required to carry out a significant piece of academic work on your own initiative, using the skills and knowledge gained through the programme. This culminates in the submission of a written dissertation.
