Software Engineering

The course offers in-depth knowledge on advanced topics in Software Engineering and Computing Science to existing graduates in Computing or a closely-related discipline. This course has been designed to equip students with the necessary skills to find employment as a software developer or system architect in the IT/Computing industry.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in Computing Science/Information Technology. Applicants without these formal qualifications but with significant appropriate/relevant work/life experience are encouraged to apply.

Course modules

Core modules include: Database principles and applications; concurrent and distributed systems; computer forensics and security; technologies for ecommerce; object-oriented software design; project management.
Elective modules include: Networking; decision support systems; advanced computer games technology; communication systems and services.

Assessment methods

After two semesters of classes students will embark on a 3-month long project working on their dissertation.
