Environmental Health Sciences

This programme has been designed to allow graduates from a range of science and engineering disciplines to develop and extend knowledge in risk-based assessment and management of environmental influences on human health.

Course modules

Compulsory modules: Air pollution, climate change and human health; food inspection and control; food safety and hygiene; occupational health and toxicology; public health studies; qualitative and quantitate research methods; waste management and landfill design; water and environment management. Elective modules: Environmental impact assessment; environmental pollution management; contaminated land; geographical information systems; infection and vector control; pollution and rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems; principle of environmental microbiology; sustainability and strategic environmental assessment; city systems and infrastructure; leading issues in circular economy.

Assessment methods

You'll present work in written, verbal and graphical forms including field and laboratory reports, portfolios, posters and oral presentations.
