This course is being offered in Oman on a distance learning basis in collaboration with the College of Banking and Financial Studies. It's suitable for those intending to develop their careers in finance: corporate finance; security analysis; portfolio management; future and other derivatives; treasury management; management of financial institutions and markets; financial decision making. If you're already working in finance, the course will enhance your effectiveness in your current role. We'll explore the latest developments in the field and encourage you to question traditional rules and techniques and take an analytical approach to practical problems.
Semester 1: Principles of finance; accounting and financial analysis. Semester 2: Quantitative methods for finance; international financial markets and banking. Semester 3: Advanced corporate finance and applications. Semester 4: Derivatives and treasury management. Elective modules: Portfolio theory and management; behavioural finance; empirical methods in finance; security analysis. Semester 5: Empirical research projects.
Assessment will be by examination, the same as those taken by the students on the full-time course at University of Strathclyde.
