International Architectural Design
All students are admitted as prospective MChem Honours students.
The entry requirements differ depending on the course and are largely a reflection of whether the course carries single or dual professional accreditation. The grades specified should be understood as minimum entry requirements that may be raised at times of exceptional demand. If it is necessary to do this, the higher standard will be applied fairly to the complete applicant field in any given year.
Compulsory classes: design studies 4a - to care (part 1); design studies 4b - to care (part 2); cultural studies 4; elective classes; special study project 4; year 2; compulsory classes; design studies; cultural studies 5; professional studies 5; elective classes; special study project 5; choose from this list based on a interest and to support a design thesis and masters dissertation; experimental media, narrative and film; the history and theory of architectural conservation; the theory of architectural conservation; urban design history; urban theory; urban landscape design; sustainability; international workshop; dissertation; dissertation project; portfolio; arb/RIBA part 2 portfolio: (aad and madi).
Full-time students on the Postgraduate Diploma are examined over semesters 1 and 2 on all aspects of the course. The MArch degree normally requires further assessment over the summer semester on an aspect of the diploma project that is explored to a greater level of detail and sophistication.
