University of Strathclyde
Wind Energy Systems
All students are admitted as prospective MChem Honours students.
The entry requirements differ depending on the course and are largely a reflection of whether the course carries single or dual professional accreditation. The grades specified should be understood as minimum entry requirements that may be raised at times of exceptional demand. If it is necessary to do this, the higher standard will be applied fairly to the complete applicant field in any given year.
Core modules: wind turbine technology; wind turbine control; power systems and wind integration; assignment and professional studies. Elective modules: socio-economics of energy systems; wind turbine power conversion; power electronics, machines and applications; power system design, operation and protection; advanced power system analysis and protection; power electronics for energy and drive control; power system economics, markets and asset management; mechanical systems and turbine design.
