The course is for students who plan to undertake a career in secondary English teaching; it is particularly suitable if you already possess an ordinary degree in English, or an Honours degree in another subject, and need to obtain the necessary credits for teacher training; this course is not open to graduates of UK universities with an Honours degree in English literature.
A 1st degree or other qualification equivalent to a degree from a UK university; applicants whose qualification is in another subject must satisfy the department of their capacity to take an advanced course in English studies.
Core modules: 3 1-semester classes from the Honours degree programme; these vary from year to year, but may include: The Glasgow Novel; Shakespeare; bodies and culture; children�s literature; Victorian literature and the Gothic tradition (how and why does language change?)
