Business Translation and Interpreting

This course explores text typology and translation; professional interpreting practice; translation and language technology; interpreting for business and commerce; business translation; translation and interpreting studies.

Entry requirements

A good degree, preferably above UK 2.1 or equivalent. Academic backgrounds need not be English or Translation. Knowledge in business and economics is desirable. Individual cases will be considered on their own merits, such as qualifications and past work experiences. If English isn't the 1st language applicants need to meet a minimum of IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 on all components. Considerations will also be given to those who do not meet the entry requirements for IELTS but passed the Pre-Masters Programme at the University of Strathclyde.

Assessment methods

Assessment is delivered through written assignments, practical interpreting scenarios, practical translation tasks, team and/or individual projects, and final examinations.
